Rotarians supporting our Coffs Coast community and inspirational International projects
Coffs Harbour Daybreak Rotary Club is enjoying an exciting and eventful 2025 and looks forward to 2026
Coffs Harbour Daybreak is part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Our members are changing lives in our own communities and overseas — and forming strong, lasting friendships in the process.
Our priorities are:
- Volunteering our skills
- Helping people both locally and internationally
- Improving our communities
- Building our networks
Our unique flagship program RyMarine will again be held in October 2026 . RYMarine is for young people who are keen to pursue marine studies and marine based careers. The program is a great success with terrific feedback received from students and parents alike.
Young participants engage in laboratory experiments at the National Marine Science Centre, go whale-watching with Jetty Dive, experience scuba diving in the War Memorial pool under the supervision of dive-masters at Jetty Dive, get to hear the history of aboriginal culture and practices on walks and kayaking activities with National Parks officers and visit Marine Rescue Coffs Harbour which includes an exhilirating ride on their rescue boat CH30.
On the final evening, participants attend a dinner event with parents /carers where participation awards are given to the students and hear a keynote speech from a noted Marine Science specialist .
Earlier this year we sponsored a local, young attendee, Cloe Flaherty, to the National Youth Science Forum in Brisbane.
In June, we were delighted to sponsor Ashlee Geddes and Nada Ali to attend the renowned Rotary Youth Leadership Academy at Stuarts Point(RYLA). A fantastic opportunity for these deserving young applicants from diverse backgrounds
We have had great success with our Swimming program for recently arrived refugees, and our long-term support to deserving local causes such as the Disabled Surfers Association, the amazing Deaf Camp, Coffs Harbour’s local Parkinsons Support Group and the Mental Health Unit at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital continues. Over the past few years we been involved with many other exciting local and international community projects including:
- Lifesaving Towers at Sawtell, Park Beach, Red Rock & Diggers Beach
- The Coffs Harbour Ocean Swim
- Funding a CT Pet Scanner at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital
- The amazing Chiedza child care centre in Zimbabwe
To help fund these and other deserving causes we have our annual much loved Golf Day at Coffs Harbour Golf Club, an annual Trivia Night and the fantastic Lantern Festival in the Japanese Gardens at Coffs Botanic Gardens, We are proud to assist the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour with the annual Rotary Bookfest and we have many other exciting fund-raising ideas on our future agenda. All need your support!
2025 saw a brand new & exciting fund-raising event for us – the inaugural Coffs Harbour Walking Football Charity Shield! It took place on March 1st at Coffs Harbour Synthetics with 16 generous companies and organisations of like-minded people taking part in a fun day of Walking Football to raise funds for local charities (over $14000!) who offer sporting and leisure opportunities to those members of our community who may otherwise be unable to participate.
