A NEW PET /CT SCANNER SECURED FOR THE COFFS HARBOUR COMMUNITY

In July 2017 I-MED Radiology Network installed a new State-of-the Art PET/CT Scanner at it’s clinic at the Coffs Specialist Medical Centre on the Campus of the Coffs Harbour Base Hospital

Rotary Club members had been pushing the Club hard for over a year to pursue this project as a number of Club Members have been through a cancer journey in recent times.

This was a wonderful outcome for the Coffs Harbour Daybreak Rotary Club who had been lobbying the local Area Health Board, local politicians, community groups and the whole wider Coffs Community, who were strong supporters of the Club for this significant improvement to the region’s health services.

A PET scan is an effective way to examine the chemical activity in parts of your body.

It may help identify a variety of conditions, including some cancers, heart disease and brain disorders.

Having a PET/CT Scan in Coffs is now often the action that turns medical outcomes towards a favorable result. Having the Scanner in Coffs means that sick patients no longer have to face a long journey to either Newcastle or Lismore for a scan and the PET/CT Scanner is now available for over 350,000 people in the Region.
